PLEASE HELP BUILD |
THE WORLD WAR II MEMORIAL MONUMENT IN ARUBA |
With the recovery of the bronze propeller from the lake tanker SS Oranjestad the dive group who salvaged the prop have now forming a committee to build a memorial, incorporating the propeller in the monument's design. The monument will be dedicated to those who lost their lives during World War II while in Aruba working for and defending the refinery and the island that supplied a large portion of the fuel used by the Allies. |
Now this web site is asking all those who are connected to Aruba in any way to support this committee's endeavor and make whatever contribution you can to see this monument is built. The committee in Aruba ha obtained a plot of land which is across the street from the old Lago Community church. |
If you will contribute, the monument can be built. You may send your check, made out to: SS Oranjestad Memorial Committee, to me and I will collect the checks and send them on to Dufi Kock in Aruba via registered mail. If you live out side the USA you can send the check directly to Dufi in Aruba. If you do, please send it registered mail. If you feel comfortable transferring funds from your bank to the Committee's bank account in Aruba send me an email and I will send you their bank number. |
A ONE OUNCE STANDARD ENVELOPE MAILED TO ARUBA FROM THE USA REQUIRES $.94 POSTAGE, TO REGISTER A LETTER COSTS $9.50 ADDITIONAL. THIS IS WHY I AM COLLECTING THE CHECKS AND SENDING THEM IN BATCHES TO ARUBA. |
