TODAY I RECEIVED A REQUEST ABOUT SOMEONE WHO'S FATHER WORKED AT LAGO. HIS SON IS LOOKING FOR INFORMATION ABOUT HIS FATHER. I DECIDED TO MAKE THIS PAGE WITH THE HOPE THAT SOMEONE LOOKING AT THE WEB SITE MAY BE ABLE TO HELP WITH INFORMATION. IF YOU HAVE ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THE PERSON PLEASE E-MAIL THEM DIRECT
Hi,
I am seeking for info on my late father
who worked at Lago. I was born in Aruba Sept. 4 1955 and left when I
was 4yrs old. I have never been back until this year. My father
worked at Lago for 16yrs (possibly 1943-1959). His name was Hubert
Auckland Brand born Sept 14 1912 on the island of Nevis. Lago may
have spelt his middle name "Ockland" . I am trying to find out where
he lived in San Nicolas while he was working at the refinery, and
was there any other person with that surname who worked at the
refinery. It is my intention to return to Aruba shortly to spend
some vacation time there and explore the land of my birth. Where
could I find this information ? Can you help me?
Regards.

LOOKING FOR MR. YRAD ILLIDGE
And who is he you may ask. Well, Mr. Illidge worked for Lago for 38 years and during that time he also sang calypso as "LORD BOXOE". In 1984 Lord Boxoe presented Lago with a calypso he wrote and sang for the 60th anniversary of Lago. It was called "GOD BLESS LAGO". I would like to find a copy of the song, find out if Mr. Illidge is still living and get permission to put the song on the web site. Is there anyone out there that can help me in this endeavor? Hello Dan, I am trying to locate my son's grandfather. He was an employee of Lago around 1970. His name is Arturo DiGiamarco. I am not positive on the exact spelling of that last name. Is there any info you have that cold send me in the right direction? Thank you very much, Tammy Ras 1/1/2007 |

Hi Dan, Thank you for the quick response. Yes you have my permission to post this info on the web page. All I really know is that he came from Italy. Sicily I believe. He had a girlfriend who was a native of Aruba. Her name was Filomena Ras. Also I believe the correct spelling of the last name is DiGiammarco. Oh and as far as what he did, the only thing I am pretty sure about is that is was more hard labor than office work. I heard that he possibly moved to the US around 72-73 but I don't know this for sure either. Thank you very much. Tammy Ras 1/2/2007 |
