LAGO REFINERY IN 1968

Joe Carroll attended Lago High School and than after attending university in the United States he returned to work at Lago as an Engineer.  Joe has sent me three sets of photographs.  The first set covers the construction of the consolidation and computerization of the refinery control into one room.  This was done in 1968.

The second set of photos show the construction of the hydro Desulpherization units which was begun in 1968.  These units were also controlled from the same room as shown in the first set of photographs.

The final single photo show one of the four tankers (Joe refers to it as a "Ven Flag" ship) that replaced the Lake Fleet.  This was possible because the shallow entrance to Lake Maracaibo was dredged, thus eliminating the need for the shallow draft tankers.
