THE DAN JENSEN FAMILY WEB PAGE

My first wife, Lilian Mary (Lee) died November 19, 2002 of kidney failure cause by multiple melanoma.  We had been married 40 years.
In September of 2003 I went to a Lago High School reunion in San Antonio and there I met Mary B. (Spitzer) (BeBe) Henderson who was also a widow. See: (BUNGALOW 1511)  Mary B. and I began to correspond by email and in 2003, I spent Thanksgiving with my daughter and her family in Fort Worth, Texas.  The week before Thanksgiving Day and the week after, I was in Austin, Texas with Mary B.  It was during this time that we decided to get married.  Because I was still working, Mary B. came to Savannah, Georgia for Christmas and on January 2, 2003 we were marred in South Carolina.  I retired from my job as Zoning Administrator for Chatham County in February, 2004 and we sold my house in Savannah and I moved to Austin, Texas.
DAN JENSEN    I was born in St. Petersburg, Florida and grew up on the island of Aruba.  My father worked for Lago Oil and Transport Company, Ltd.
Aruba was in ideal place to grow up.  The oil company provided good schools for the children of foreran staff employees as well as company housing, a club, know as The Esso Club, (Lago was a 100% owned subsidiary of Standard Oil of New Jersey).  The Esso Club encompassed a movie theater, dance floor, band stand, a bar, (men only) cocktail lounge, restaurant, library, book and magazine store, soda fountain and liquor sales.  This was all with in a fenced in compound.  There was also a company owned bowing alley, light airplane club, swimming and boat dock facilities, a commissary, picket grounds, golf course, (with oiled sand greens) and hospital.

My father retired in 1957 and he and my Mother moved to St. Croix, U.S.V.I..
I attended the University of Florida and majored in Building Construction.
My first job out of school was in Orlando, Florida.  I worked for Paul Smith Construction Co. was the Job Engineer on the Delaney Street Baptist Church Educational Building.  When that job was finished I was the Job Engineer on the First Federal Savings and Loan parking garage downtown and then the seven story First Federal Savings and Loan office building.  While on this job one of our sub-contractors was Burnup & Sims and when  I told the foreman I was from St. Croix he told me they were doing work down there.  I said I would like to get a job in St. Croix and the next day I got a call offering me a job as a superintendent in St. Croix.  I gave Paul Smith two weeks notice and Lee and I moved to St. Croix.  After two years in St. Croix Burnup & Sims moved me to Barbados where I managed a ready-mix concrete plant.  Three years in Barbados and then back to St. Croix as the Manager of the Burnup & Sims in St. Croix.
When Burnup & Sims left St. Croix I stayed and opened a hardware store, The Tool Box.  We also purchased a travel agency and my wife ran the agency.
When the children were of middle school age we decided to move to the States and settled in Georgia.  I purchased a "farm" and raised baby caves for two years, it took me that long to realize I could not make money raising calves.
I went to work for County Government and became a Building Inspector which then brought me into Zoning.  When I retired I was the Zoning Administrator for Chatham County, Georgia in Savannah.
LISE  My daughter, she has her husband, two girls and two dogs to take care of in their home in Fort Worth, Texas.   Their oldest daughter, sitting on her father's knee, was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes two years ago.  This keeps her mother and father very busy checking blood sugar and making special meals.  She and her husband have also become very active in the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

THAT IS LISE, HER TWO GIRLS AND ME WHEN WE WERE IN ST. CROIX.

Lise was born in Barbados.  She was our second child. She attended school in St. Croix, U.S.V.I., Madison, Georgia and graduated from Berry College in Rome, Georgia.  She went on and got her Masters in Business Administration.  Lise has worked for two companies since receiving her masters degree.  In one she did purchasing of jewelry and for the other she did appraisal of used jewelry.  After getting married she become a stay at home mom.

PAUL   My son, lives with his wife, little boy and little girl in Monroe Georgia. Paul was also born in Barbados.  He was diagnosed with dyslexia in the third grade, while attending school in St. Croix.  When we learned of his problem we looked into schools that could help and found the Vanguard School in Lake Wales, Florida.  Here he receive special attention and made great improvement in his study habits during the three years he attended Vanguard.   Attending this school proved to be beneficial.  In Madison, Georgia he entered the regular school program and he has since graduated from Berry College.  He has been employed by Georgia Power for the past 14 years.  He is a Television Engineer and helps to develop training tapes for the company.
